All we ever hear are all the ways obesity can kill. These shouldn’t be overlooked. But there are some ways being overweight gives an actual health advantage. So don’t feel quite so awful going for that extra cupcake.
Needless to say, being overweight increases your risk of stroke. But now a massive study published in ‘The Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology’ has revealed that fat people have a 25 percent less chance of developing Alzheimer’s.
Heart disease plays favorites. It’s 4X likelier to kill somebody with a ‘healthy’ BMI than a fat person.
‘Omentum fat’ – the technical name for the fat layers surrounding your internal organs – has been shown to interact with and regulate the immune system.
The journal ‘Rheumatology’ has published a study revealing that overweight men – and, strangely, men only – are 63 percent less likely than fit men to develop rheumatoid arthritis.
Protection From Injury
Danny Ross was stabbed 38 times. Gerhard Steiner fell 20 feet. Lawrence Bell took 8 bullets. They all survived. What do they have in common? They’re fat!
It’s true! Nothing ‘premature’ about fat guys. Being fat makes men last an average 7.3 percent longer than skinny guys before old Mt. Vesuvius erupts.
Kicking In Doors
It’s clear what disadvantages being fat would create in an emergency. Crawling out the window to escape zombies might not be an option. But sheer weight has advantages, too – like when you absolutely have to knock that door down.
Enhanced Tissue Repair
Mesenchymal stem cells are found in abundance in abdominal fat. Their specialty is repairing damaged. That’s right: fat people heal faster.
Is this really a surprise? Everything that lives in cold weather seems to have a blubber layer. Fat people, too, gain extra resistance against hypothermia. Oddly, they may feel the cold more acutely against the skin.
